About this speaker
Jason Spiewak has an unblinking passion for artist development and embracing of new technologies that have guided him for over two decades in music.
He learned the music business on the independent side of the record company world, with early work experience at Artemis Records, Studio E Records, and TVT Records. At Artemis, Spiewak ran the company’s college radio program, scoring high-charting records for Warren Zevon, Steve Earle, Sugarcult, and a number one with “Loose Screw” by The Pretenders. At TVT Records, Spiewak executed online marketing campaigns for artists including Pitbull, Ying Yang Twins, 213, Sevendust, and the double-platinum “Crunk Juice” by Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz.
Spiewak co-founded the Warner Music (ADA) distributed-label Rock Ridge Music in 2004, later to be named that company’s President. While at Rock Ridge, Spiewak’s A&R credits included artists as diverse as Reel Big Fish, Kittie, Ingram Hill, Tony Lucca, and Pat McGee. The company’s online marketing clients included Atlantic Records, J Records, RCA Records, RUN DMC, Twisted Sister, Barry Manilow and Better Than Ezra.
Under Spiewak’s leadership, the label enjoyed the success of high-charting releases by Sister Hazel, Rachel Platten, Five.Bolt.Main, Psychostick, Reel Big Fish, and a #1 jazz record by former baseball great Bernie Williams.
Additionally, Spiewak donates his time to the Music Is Love Exchange, a charitable organization that leads groups of musicians and fans to Guatemala annually for week-long service trips.
